Portraits of plants in city alleys, open ground beside farmland and cracks in rocks, made before they are uprooted.

Alleys 01–06, 2023.

Artist statement

With the descent of rain, one can find a plant in the alleys of the city, on the open fields by the farmlands, and even amidst the cracks in the rocks. Our modernized urban environment, the stewards of the land constantly change, yet all coexist here. Whether they are native, endangered, naturalized, or invasive species, they have all found their place on this island.

Capture their portraits before they are uprooted.

Work and exhibition

Alleys 01–06 is part of the series Before they are uprooted, presented in The Collaboration Ground, Galerie Pierre’s 33rd-anniversary exhibition of architecture and art. Six images of plants are presented as giclée prints in wooden frames.

11 November 2023–6 January 2024; curated by Chen Hsuan-Cheng.
